Ropes Gone Wild

Today I got a chance to play with my latest toy, a 30 foot, 2 inch rope from the Art of Strength Ropes Gone Wild collection.  This thing was a blast!  I started out the morning by heading out for a 4.75 mile snowy run with my little guy.  He was all bundled up in the stroller, warm as can be, and we headed out to brave the wind and snow.  I wish there was a way I could travel in the comfort and style he has.  A full weather shield, bundled in fleece and just chilling while I push… Must be nice :)

Anyhow, we had a great run.  After a while, my toes started to get a little cold as the salted roads got a little more wet.  Given that I do all of my runs in Vibram Five Fingers now, there are times that my toes get wet and the freezing temps make it quite unpleasant to run!  The original plan was to run anywhere from 4-7 miles this morning, so we ended up on the short end of the range.

After coming home, I headed down to the basement to try out the Ropes Gone Wild.  These things are awesome.  I turned on the DVD that came with them and started the “masters class”.  What a killer workout!  It took about 20 minutes and I was loving it.  My whole upper body can feel the burn, and I came darn near to my Max HR during the 1 minute smoker at the end.

I’m definitely a fan of these things, and will be adding them into my cardio routine going forward.

I used two 24kg kettlebells two hole the rope in place and it seemed to work great!
