Fat burning plan…

I’ve really been struggling with how to effectively get into a workout regime over the past few weeks.

Here are the issues at the core of my struggles:

  1. I absolutely hate mornings.  Working out before going to work for me is really, really difficult.
  2. I’m a very, very busy person.  My job keeps me quite busy and I do a fairly reasonable amount of travel.  I’ve tried the lunch time gym run and it works reasonable well, however it is not reliable.
  3. I have been working throughout the evenings lately.  I’m running a very large project for my company right now and it has me working over the evenings and weekends quite a bit.
  4. I love my family.  I don’t want to take a lot of time away from my family by taking an hour or two an evening away to hit the gym.

So… What to do?  I’ll be honest that a few of these are self imposed issues.  I’m sure I could workout in the morning - but I really, really don’t like it!  My bed is a very comfortable place and I don’t like to get out of it.

I’m sure I could be a little more aggressive about scheduling my lunched for the gym, but it takes quite a bit of time and 1.5 to 2 hour lunches don’t really work well in my schedule.

Given these issues, I’ve been doing a bunch of research and have decided on a plan.  Today, I ordered the kettlebell starter kit from http://www.dragondoor.com and will be doing kettlebell training at home in the evenings as soon as it arrives.

I’ve done a few sessions with these bad boys at my local Gold’s Gym - let me tell you, they are amazing! One of the things about the kettlebells that I’m really looking forward to is the rock hard lean muscle they develop.  This is the kind of muscle that is shear strength, not big bulky stuff.

I’m planning to couple the kettlebell workouts will a cardio routine that I can do in the neighborhood.  This will start with brisk walks (I did another today) and very soon jogging, then running.  I figure that doing this work in my neighborhood will allow for some flexibility in scheduling as well as taking my dogs with me now and again :)

Anyhow, I’m really looking forward to this.  I’m sure that I’ll still hit up my local Gold’s as I’m still paying them each and very month! They do have kettlebells there as well, so when it is time to move up in the weight, maybe I’ll head over to the gym and use their bells as my next one is on the way.

Once this program is in full swing, the lean fat burning muscle developed from the kb training is going to but this program into gear.  The hard core, core focused development of the kettlebell training will rocket me towards the six-pack goal!
